How We Help Our Community Move Forward in a Positive Direction

We support the backs of blue written on tote bag

POSITIVE! We’ve been using this word as often as possible lately. Why? Because we know how challenging times are right now and how difficult it can be to find any positive in the sea of negativity it seems we are drowning in. We made the decision that the time has come to get back to life and we encourage you to join us!

The steps taken will look different for each of us, but for The Law Office of Pamela J Helton, it means helping our community get back to business and back to work. We want to develop opportunities for people to safely meet, network, and simply share the benefits of social connection.

To that end, we have partnered with like minded people in our community to create Solutions Networking. Luis Bidrogo from Surveillance Plus along with Pat and Daryl Woodhouse from Remax Central Realty are working with us to form a networking group which focuses on positivity and solutions. We meet the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. The first meeting of the month will focus on community and how we connect to help make this area a safe and happy place for everyone who lives here. The second meeting of the month will focus on business challenges and will use the experience of the members of the group to find solutions.

Our inaugural meeting was a huge success! We thank everyone who attended with the positive attitude we requested. We also thank the Clermont Police Department (CPD) for sending a number of their officers to speak with us. CPD has been a leader in community policing and we’ve seen the positive outcomes of their efforts.

The CPD puts on hundreds of events in our community each year. Through these events, they gather people together, encourage dialogue and build a stronger connection between them and the residents. The events also give officers an opportunity to identify potential problems before they escalate to real problems. The Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS) unit has won statewide recognition for its success.

Officers also keep a visible presence in downtown Clermont. You will often see them riding bikes and speaking with citizens. Again, this helps promote positive relations between officers and citizens.

CPD works in conjunction with Lifestream to provide on site crisis intervention. The United Way provides ‘211’ which is a national hotline people can call to help direct them to the appropriate services when in a non-emergency situation. A suicide line, ‘988’, is coming soon.

CPD also uses Smart 911 which is a free service used by public safety agencies across the country to enhance communication and response for their community. It can be used by 9-1-1 agencies to quickly send first responders to the location of an emergency with more information, by emergency management to better plan for and respond to disasters, and by municipalities to send emergency notifications to their citizens.

These are just some of the ways the CPD works to unite, serve, and protect our community. To keep up with their services, activities, and important information, be sure to follow them on Facebook

The Law Office of Pamela J Helton is proud to support the backs of blue! We welcome all officers into our building for a rest, cool air, coffee, or restroom. We are hopeful for our community as we begin to move forward together. We ask you to join us, project positive attitudes, and be a part of solutions.
